Anyone know which would be louder, assuming the same amount of power was used for both setups?

the 15's would have way more cone area... not sure about bandpass, but i no u add 3dbs for a port, but the 15's still should be louder, and sound better

I thought bandpass was 3 dB over ported, and ported was roughly 3 dB over sealed?

im not sure about boxes, u should ask Marshall...im sure he no's

but if what u said is true an bandpass should be 6db's louder then sealed, but that would be same subs, size everything..

I'm pretty sure that it's a total of 6dB gain in a properly setup bandpass box on average.. But how much do you think the cone area of 15's as opposed to 12's would give me, assuming they both got the same amount of mojo?

unless you are going to have someone that knows boxes to build them...forget about bandpass. (i mean someone that REALLY knows...not just says/thinks they know)

It is 'said' that a ported box is on average +3db over a sealed...and a bandpass is +6dB over a sealed. But all that depends on the actual box and subs. You can get huge SPL gains over sealed boxes out of ported boxes. (8dB+ easily w/ spl boxes)

All in all...ported is easier to deal w/ than bandpass. And to tell the truth...if 4 decent 12's (or 15's) in arent loud enough for you, you are either deaf, stupid, or cant build a box.

my vote...4 15's w/ 4cuft each (one chamber or two) tuned to 35hz

Depending on the subs you are using, this box might look a little weak.

These are the boxes the 12's are in.. Sound pretty nice, actually.

And the 15's I think would be the MB Quart RWE-354(or 352) model, giving them like 1.5 cubes each.
