Does anyone know how much SQ in of port to use for a sub. Like DD reccommends 16 SQ in of port area per Cubic foot of box volume but that seems like alot for lower line subwoofers. Does anyone know about this sort of stuff?

See what I am trying to figure out is can you use 16 SQ in of port area per cubic foot for a 10 inch sub? I think that seems like alot isnt it? I was guessing something like 10 SQ in of port per cubic foot for 10s and 12 SQ inches of port per cubic foot for 12s and 16 SQ inches of port per cubic foot for 15s or greater... is this right or should i just use 16 SQ of port per cubic foot for all boxes?

Depends alot on the sub I think. If you have a SQ sub, you prolly wouldnt want that much. But for a SPL set up you would. My box had 30sqin of port, and it was 2.8cu ft. so thats about 11sqin per cu.ft. Im not an expert but i'd say it depends on the sub and what sound your goin for.
