I bought some used JL Audio 12W6's. They are dual 6-ohms. What kind of amp do I need to push these suckers? I have a Rockford Fosgate, but it is 2 or 4 ohm stable. Can I use that? Any help would be appreciated.

wire them parallel and it would create a 1.5 ohm load. get a new amp that puts out 1000w @ 1 ohm

Thats got me wondering.. Those two 6 ohm subs can be wired to 3 ohms a piece.. can an amp that handles 2 and 4 ohms power 3 ohms? Like, say an amp puts out 200W @ 4 ohms and 400W @ 2 ohms.. would that be 300W @ 3 ohms?

They were wired seperately at 3 ohms a piece when I got them. I don't know how the guy was pushing them though. Any ideas?

Okay. Tell me if this will work with my 2 ohm stable amp. Wire each sub in series to get 12 ohms a piece. Then wire them in parrallel to get a load of 6 ohms.

Then bridge my amp to it.

Would that work?

Specs for amp:

Update:

Wired them in series to get a 6 ohm load.

Bridged my amp for 600 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms.

Works good. Doesn't seem like the amp is putting out enough power though.

Got a new Kenwood Head Unit today too. Sounds so much better than factory. :-)

I ran the subs for about 10 minutes. The amp was cold.

Does this mean the hookup was succesful?

Peace,
Hobbs
