I've built a couple before, nothin real complicated tho. I havent turned it up too loud b/c i just finished it and dint wanna wake any neighbors, but it sounds good. I had to kick it into my trunk b/c it would barely fit. LoL. I doubt its coming back out without being disassembled.

Heres some pics of my back deck w/ the port....It used to have a 12" sub in it.

nice looking box man - but i must ask , it appears 2 me from ur pix that ur box is almost touching the tailgate ,
if it is then how do u expect 2 get any resonating bass ? , cause it seems 2 me like it will rattle the hell outta ur trunk lid/tailgate with it being so near ........

It just looks like that, its about 8-9inches from the back of the trunk, but its only about 5inches from the top of the trunk.

er ok - its hard 2 judge distance in a pic like that

u need 2 seriously deaden ur trunk if u already havent done it as yet - also try facing box 4ward too when ur done 2 see which sounds better 2 u ....

If you look in the 3rd pic of my port then you can see the Dynamat Xtreme on the back of my trunk, I've already done all that before i put in my last system. I doubt i get that box back out easily, i had to kick it into the trunk, it was a tight fit.

Dammit. My box is about 2 1/2 inches too wide in the back to slide it back as far as I want it to go. Which means I'm going to have to do this to get it to fit right.

I'm going to have to cut off where the green lines are.

I know...but it'll only take it down to about 2.6per chamber and i think thatll put the tuning around 37hz instead of 35. That shouldnt make too much of a diff. i dont think. I could always add a couple inches to the port to get it bcak to 35hz.

Wood is 3/4" MDF. Sounds good, but i think itll be louder if i turn it the other way, i think the subs are too close to the edge of the trunk and not enuf sound is gettin through. i only have about 1000rms goin to them, so they're only gettin like 500 each. Sounds nice tho.

make a box a smaller and put 2-4 of these in each chamber. it will take up less space inside so you can have a smaller box.

what is the advantage/ disadvatages to having round ports or long square ports?

Round ports take up less space in the box i think. Therefore you can make the box smaller and still have the same amount of cu.ft.(Chadlee told me). I think I'm going to get 2 4" flared and make a new box. O well... we got out of school for summer today, so I'll have plenty of free time.

The reason it looks like somethin ate away is b/c the top cracked, then I had to try and get it off, and I had to pry it off b/c i used plenty of LN to glue it. and i just realized I didnt post a pic of the top after I took it off. Damn it. LoL. I would forget the best one. Anyways I tried to fix it, but it isn't near as loud now b/c nothin went back together right, and i had to caulk a few gaps. O well...I'm making another soon, this time with some aeroports.

I'm not sure if its really 500rms each, I was just guessing. the amp is a Soundstorm 2000.2(cheap). but, I'm just using while a friend is out on a boat working. Its supposed to be only 4ohm stereo stable, and put out like 500rms per channel, but i wired it to 1ohm mono and it blew the fuse after 1 hit. Then i wired it to 2ohm on each channel and it sounded pretty good, I just kept the gain about 3/4 adn it was poundin. Not really sure how many watts.

I'm bout to build a new box 2moro. Prolly going to be about the same tho, but is there any advantage to having the subs in separate chambers? or should i just make them in the same this time b/c I'm going to have to make the box a little smaller.

do you know what i would have to do to get that tuned to 36 hz, i imagine it would involve the length of the ports but i dont no if it would be less or more and how much

Make the port about 16.5" long instead of 21" and itll be around 36hz.
