a friend of mine just bought the JBL A6000GTI amp...i think its a bit excessive...but he wants to know what pair of subs he should put with it...
...here are the specs...
Power Output 2600 Watts RMS x 2 channels at 4 ohms and less than 1%THD+N
8110 Watts RMS x 1 channel at 4 ohms, 14.4V supply and less than 1%THD+N
7400 Watts RMS x 1 channel at 1 ohm, 14.4V supply and less than 1%THD+N Signal-to-Noise Ratio 65 dBA (reference 1 Watt into 4 ohms) Dynamic Power 6854 Watts at 4 ohms Effective Damping Factor 6.39 at 4 ohms Frequency Response 10Hz to 270Hz (-3dB) Maximum Input Signal 8.5V Maximum Sensitivity 250mV Output Regulation .2 db at 4 ohms Dimensions (H x W x D) 6-1/2" x 29-3/8" x 23" MSRP U.S. $ $6000.00
he planned on making a wall in the back of his durango to power 4 MTX 9500 15's wired to an 8ohm load so the actual output on the amp would be somewhere close to 4000wrms...and since he works at a local mobile audio shop he got the amp for cost which i believe was $1500. i guess his philosophy is that $1500 for one amp is cheaper than buying 4 MTX 91002 amps that cost $500 each plus all the wiring that goes with it.
like i said i think its a bit over kill but his point of saving $500 could be worth it...i just wanted to hear what people have to say about it.
