technically.....you could put a 5000wRMS amp on a 100wRMS sub....as long as it was clean power and you didn't abuse the sub.....you wouldn't have any problems.
this is an example.......i am sure that you would have to set the gains very low(which you shouldn't screw with, and also set the sub-level-out very low)....but in theory.....it would work....and yes those are extreme examples of RMS ratings just to get my point across.
