If one coil doesnt work, is it safe to use the other coil? Should it still be wired together?

Its a 10" Type R 2ohm DVC. Thanks.

But what if the other coil doesnt work. How about if you have two DVC subs with a blown coil. Could you wire those coils together?

If only one is wired, what causes it to heat up and blow?
