im using a medium sized box for my 15 right now, would a bigger box make more bass or make it louder? i have no skill in porting so it would be sealed. is bigger better?
depends on the sub, its alot of variables.. what size box u have now?? a bigger sealed box would help... No need for nothing like 20cubes tho.. single 15 in like 8 cubes max...
Bigger isn't necessarily better. Bigger will probably produce a hump in your response. Try modeling your sub with WinISD or some box program and see what happens when you change volume sizes.
the bigger you go the less control the subwoofer will have, it will get sloppy, power handling goes down.. depends on the enclosure too.. going bigger in a sealed enclosure will mainly help it hit the low notes better.. a ported box going bigger will increase spl at the tuned freq..
