hey....im thinking about upgrading my subs. But i have a tough decision to make. Im think about getting either two 12" RE SX or two Treo TSX. So maybe you can help me out al little. im looking for more spl than sq, but i would like to have a little of both. What do you think i should go with?

man people keep coming up with tough decisions..... if yoru going to give them only 500w each then definetly the tsx, but if your going to give them 1000 each then the SX prolly, B claims they can take double their rms but i dont know if id be comfortable doing that, maybe you are? great SQL setup though.

well...it depends,i dont have an amp yet. But which ever one i get i will give them as much as they can take. Right now im kinda leaning towards the RE. I called them about 20 mins ago and asked for a price quote for the SX and they said its $270 shipped. So i think im gonna go with the RE SX because it can take twice as much power then the Treo TSX.

what size is your alt?
the Treo TSX's will take way over 500wRMS...they are very capable of doing so.

i look at it like this...The Treo SSi is rated at 750wRMS....at the shop i helped at....the man who installed most of them suggested a good 1000wRMS to power them....and they sounded beautiful when people took his advice.

i know people putting 1200rms to each 15 TSx and i think B puts 2500rms to each 15. they can take alot of power.

:-)
well if you divide 2500 by 500 you would get 5!
so 5x their rms is what Im feeding them.. They get real violent, & alot of times scare the crap out of me! It also scares the crap out of everyone around me... they also broke my box... :-(
Ive seen 2 TSX with 3000rms each in competitions before.. I think they were doing a 153 on the TL in a Cherooke.. so u decide..

I am by no way recomending this to you... lol
If you know what your doing, and have a good chargin system... The subs should last you forever.

cliped signals from laggin electrical systems is what fry subs... just use your sense..

then that will work... :-) Just make sure u have a HO alternator... Ive heard 2 12 TSX off of 1200rms and it was doing damage... I would just use the amp you already got.. :-)

not if it is a clean signal.....the amp has to have power to make power...:-)

you could blow them with 300W....if the signal was clipped.

yep

power In = power OUT

its the law of the land, physics & electrical..

u can NOT get a CLEAN 1500rms OUTPUT; with 30amps INPUT current... (CLIPPED)

it would be better with 200 INPUT to give u a realistical CLEAN 1500 OUTPUT.. (CLEAN)

he can think about it this way, the HO alternator is insurance on your equipment..

you figure about 10amps of current for every 100 watts RMS

so if you need 1500 watts RMS then about 150A of current

BUT here's the catch...you still need more than that for your car's electrical system to function....sooooooo you will not get 150A of current to the amp cuz the car will draw some so shoot for like 40-75 more than what you need
:-)

its best to buy them form a dealer. call treo and ask for the closest dealer to you... other than that there is a website though... search for the thread that asks where to get treo... it has the link in there...

Ho alts... www.excessiveamperage.com

i contacted treo today and they said the retail for a 15" ssx was $800....holyshit! Thats a little more then im wanting to pay, but do you think its worth the money? all i want is a setup that will get to the mid 140's without a problem. if you think there are any other options, please tell.......but i would like if they were treos.

a 12 ssx properly power and installed will hit mid 140s. but id get 2 15 tsx or ssi subs over the ssx. i bet one SSi 15 with like 1200w rms would get louder than you think.... or maybe even try the 18 with 1200-1500w rms.

Guys, with 900 watts rms @ 4 ohm supposedly available by my Arc Audio 1500-XXK

Im having a hard time deciding to go with a Treo TSX or a SSI

I was thinking if i go with the 10 TSX ported i could take advantage of that 900 watts and get the most ouf of that sub or i could settle with the 10 SSI. This is for a everday setup that can get loud with good sq also.

if get the ssi. ssi will have less chance of malfunction and it sounds better. a 10 tsx vs a 10 ssi with 900w... in spl maybe the same. but sq is the ssi. so unless you want to save like 70 bucks id get the ssi

So the TSX and SSI will both give me the same output if i tested both of them and gave them 900 watts ?

im not telling you. im assuming. i have yet to compare them side by side. i forget what voice coils are on the one i just bought. if its d2 ohm then i can hook it up to a sx500.2 which my friend has his 10 tsx on. i could compare them great that way. but i would think they will have about the same output but the ssi be cleaer. although 1 10 isnt going to be as loud as ur old setup. the 2 12w6v2s.... atleast it would be crazy if 1 10 was lol.
