Input sensitivity

Ok, I have a Kole Audio amp, these are the specs:

model HK1440-2
rms @ 2ohm 360x2 or 720 mono
Adjustable Sensitivity Range 0.1-1V

My head unit has 4.5V preouts, does this mean I can turn the gain/sensitivity on the amp to max because it only goes to 1V? This is not my amp or sub, it is my brother's and I don't want to blow either amp or speaker. Thanks in advance for any information.

the only way you can blow a speaker is by either overpowering it, or sending a clipped signal to it. so as long as his sub can handle the amp's power output, and you set the gain so that the amp's clip light only blinks on hard hits (as in, the clip light isn't on all the time), his sub should be fine.

I understand the principle of clipping and such, what I'm asking is if I set the gain to max, meaning set it to 1V and my head unit is putting 4.5V out will that cause it to clip or not. I don't think it will, but I want to be sure because the amp and speaker are not mine.
