New member Username: BumpthatPost Number: 4 Registered: Mar-06 | I am planning on getting 2 Alpine type R's. They each have dual 4ohm voice coils. I also might get a Kenwood 1800w mono amp. Is there ANY way possible to run it at a 2ohm load. I have been told its not. If not, can it be run at 1ohm and is that a good idea or not? Post Number: 200 Registered: Feb-06 | i think the only way to run it at 2ohms is if you have one amp to one sub. if you're running one amp to both subs then you can't, you can run it at 1 or 4ohm. it's always best to try and run it at 4ohm load, but running it at a lower one will get more power from your amp. i had/have a pair os 12" r's running at a 1ohm load off a kicker 1200.1 and it sounded real good but i don't know about the kenwood mono amps. i heard there bigger amps get really hot and have a tendacy to shut off. |
