Hey guys, little noob needin help with alpine type r 12"

hey guys, i just bought an SWR 1241D 12" sub, my first time trying to set up a system.
i dunno what amp will be the best sound.
specs
300W RMS
1000W peak.
4+4 ohms.
dual

i keep on seeing peeps saying u can turn this into 2ohms, but i can't work out how, any help or suggestions will be great. tanks

to wire that sub up at 2 ohms, you need to wire the VC's in parallel. hook the Positives and negitives together. then hook the amp up to either VC.

Of course you can give a Type-R more power! I have 2 and I'm running them each at 600W!!! An option for you is that I have an Alpine MRD-M500 sitting around, 500W, if need be... but you can give them more than that and they will love it.

no the older 1241 and 1221s have a rms of 300 the 1242 and the 1222s have 500rms its the v1 and v2 of the alpine subs

so i can just get an MRD-300. then wire it up in parrallel? and it'll be sweet?

yeah, you need an amp that can be wired down to two ohm, not one ohm. If you get one thats 1 ohm stable then u will need a 600 watt amp to get 300 watts.

if you wire them at 1 ohm, you can buy directed 600d or orion

You should get a 300 watt Lanzar amp, but becareful it may blow that sub cause it puts out more lik 1000 watts. Probably to be safe you should get the Lanzar 50 watt.
