What effects do flared ports have on sq?

say i need a port length of like 17.75 and i want my box to look good and i buy a flared port thats 17" long, what effect would taht have on the sound quality and the tuning fq? this box is for sql too, if it helps.

it will eliminate port noise alot better than non flared

should anything be kept into consideration when using flared ports, i member some tread saying that flared ports can change the tuning fq or something.

umm not really, just look for the thread labled could i drill 3 inch holes in my box or something like that.
that will show u a port kit...i have the 4 inch version and its no differe nt

theres probably a certain way ur sposed to measure the lenght becuse the flare will be like an inch bigger than the diameter..

but i doubt itll change the tune freq. significantly...

yeah i was just reading that, i want to go with the 4" kit. i was just sayin that the kit is .75" shorter than what i need, that would just lower the tuning fq right?

just get it man...the way that kit works, u could add another .75 inches

if its the same a figuring out a circle of one then the formula is pi x radius squared
