I 2nd Trevor. People dont seem 2 realize DDs are one of the best subs ever made around here.... :-) Its also indestructable!! :-)
Whos to say that DD doesnt have SQ? have you heard one? Have you heard a Tarantula?
Even if it was DD vs A#S Hammer... my $$ will be with DD :-)

shocker audio neo-sig, it would beat every sub mentioned in spl, and if you go dd, forget the 9515, get the 9917z the badest sub dd makes, but still falls short of the neo-sig imo.

I thnk this time B I may have to disagree with you on the low end part. DD's are designed to get loud on top of the frequency range hence the FS in 30's the XXX's fs is 21hz which is extremely low that is why on there forum they are recommending everyone to tune higher than normal. Look at the excursion of the XXX, sorry the DD is not an extreme excursion sub and that is where it will matter on the low end, JMHO..Polo :-)

PS- Now on the top end it may very well due to the higher power handling, but they kinda plan looking too, lol..

they get high SPL by tuning the box to peak at the cars peak freq.

as for putting an orion 2500d on a type R...that sub will not actually see 2500w at the freq they burp it at. (go read the "What is box imp rise" thread) For example: i do 148.6db w/ 1 SX15 w/ a jbl bp1200.1...y box rise is ~3.35ohm.

As for doing hair tricks...it all depends on the way the vehicle loads and freqency. i have seen 152db+ systems that cant do hair tricks.

Hair tricks are done with lowwwww frequency. Lower the frequency higher the excursion, more excursion more air being moved then you get some hair flying. Try playing some Young Jeeze "Soul Survivor" as loud as you can without clipping then close all windows except one which you can start half way. Practice with a towel and not a cheap thin one, lol. You may need to introduce some bass boost too, Polo. :-O
