if i have a big a*s system, i know i would need to get a new alternator but would i have to get a new battery also???

Yes it would would be better to get a high power battery becuase it could hold and supply more power than stock batterys..

It's never a bad idea to replace both the alternator and battery at the same time. If you've been abusing your non deep cycle battery, chances are it's damaged, and would just be a good way to damage your new alt, anyways.

yeah, my old stock honda battery only sits at 7 volts after being abused, lol. new yellowtop and HO alt, battery sits nicely.
