Ive been looking at getting 2 12" type R subs but im wondering if theres anything else i can get that might be better for the money. i want something that can be really loud when i want to show off but sound really good when i just want to enjoy my music. i can get the type Rs for about 115 apiece. is there anything else that might be better for the money?

the r-lp would get louder, and also i would give it a slight nod in sq as well

I'd take the Assassins over the Type-R any day. Or the SE works very well too. You really can't compare brands like RE and AA to Alpine in quality and power handling.

Just by looking at the build quality strictly of the woofers you can tell they don't even compare.

yeah I would steer clear of the Alpine, not a bad sub but better can be had for the price.

no matter how you look at it, the type r's are comparable to the Re Se's. upgrade to a better 12 like an eclipse ti, treo ssi, id max or something along those lines man, it's about 100 more, and you are saving trunk space. :-)

Not really, maybe in spl, but not close in quality or sq

not really a huge difference in either sq or spl to me. But a well built enclosure has a lot to do with it.
