my tweeters are installed in the front corners of the dash and the woofers are installed in the lower front corner of the door. the manual that came with the comps suggests that i install the tweeter and the woofers together. is it okay the way i have mine setup or should i install the tweeter on the door close to the speaker?

yes its fine but you may either need to have some type of time alignment or attentuator to make sure the tweet doesn't "reach" your ears before the woofer do.

locating speakers close together isn't important at all. what is important is keeping an equal path length between speaker and listener for all of the speakers together, and keeping the absolute phasing correct. Now, this is much easier when the tweeter and mid are togehter.. that's why they suggest it. Mainly because most people don't even know what path length of phasing is.
