the alternator doesn't have to be a drop in replacement. you can have mounts fabricated and use any tandard cased alternator that's rewound or custom made, if the pulley lines up and it spins the right direction.
meaning if you have the skills or the money to pay someone, just about any alternator can be made to fit. just got to make sure the basic wireing will work though. also direction as Glass said
