I think 120 db is the average human scream.

everyone has a different perception of "loud"...frequencies also matter
i litterally cant stand shrill sounds very high...but in my personal opinion...hell no its not loud

well for me for a sound quality car 115 db would be fine and that is enough to loose hearing

from a ground stomping point of view no it isnt loud but for the average joe who just wants to hear the bass he's missing with authority from a "only I want to hear it in my car point of view" its more than fine

Depends on what it's coming from. Subs at 115 isn't that much, but a 115 db front stage is pretty loud when you take midrange into consideration. It's due to the fact that our ears aren't linear, we are most sensitive in midrange and upper midrange.

I'd have to say no.

My Cerwin Vega V-12F's (home speakers) reach 115dB with 60W RMS with ease.

no for home theater thats crap, to be honest. home theaters should be gettin around 140, becuase you have such a big area and you can hook more up. the home theaters i have in my house both get up to around 135-140 and it starts shakin the other side of the house (my house is about the size of a football field) and the best one is up stairs, and sometimes when my dad watches LOTR it knocks some of my cologne bottles down LOL

120db is considered where discomfort occurs. 115db is about 5db louder than a Skil Saw is, to put things in perspective. It's pretty loud, loud enough to cause hearing damage after a period of time. OSHA Daily Permissible Noise Level Exposure is 15 minutes at 115db.

I have the z-2300 which is a 200wrms THX certified 2.1 system, and it says mine is 100db. I haven't had mine pass 1/2 way yet. I just get's way too loud for what I want it for. I can only imagine what that 505wrms will sound like!!
