6x9's in general, don't sound very good. you'll get better sound from a 6.5 or 5.25 if you can make either of thoes fit in the 6x9 hole. alpine speakers are pretty good, have heard bad things about giving the Type S models externally amped power, they can't take it.
iv got 6x9s and they arnt bad they sound good and give me alot more bass then 6.5s...but i dont need a sh!t load of bass so if your putting in a sub just get 6.5s and you should be able to get this thing off ebay to convert 6x9 hole into 6.5 or you could just make one
