Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 1915 Registered: Mar-04 | your new measurments show 4.49cuft (gross)...i am assuming that you are going to mount the sub on the 16" face. if so, your port can be 14.5" tall and 3" wide...that would give you 43.5sq inches of port. if you tune to 32hz...you can get ~3.75cuft net out of the box. (your port can be 14.5" tall and 3" wide on the 16" face...that would give you 43.5sq inches of port, ~24.5 inches long) i would recommend 32hz. if you still wanna tune to 26hz...try port 14.5"x 2.5"...37.5" long. this will only give you 3.4cuft out of your box though. i plotted the 32hz box and the 26hz box on WinISD and it showed that the 32hz box would be ~2.5dB louder at 35hz-40hz, and the two boxes would be equally as loud at 29hz. |

Plus, most people's idea of "low bass" does not dip below 30hz, so you're not losing anything there. My friend's 12" SX is ported at 35hz, and it still does a nice job gettin' down low.  Pelon - I know 26hz isnt that low, but it is for an SX. If I were to build another box for an SX I would go with 32-35hz for daily. |

Now when you set a subsonic filter you set it at about 5hz below tuning so you would set it at about 21hz. That doesnt leave much more musicto be squeezed into that 1-3hz that you would be missing! |
