it means that they will play a specific hz on their subs for a short amount of time (usually 3 secs or so). it allows for the user to get to maximum wattage without damaging the equipment, or draining the charging system. they usually do it in competitions.

Why do people burp lower than 1ohm?

the ohm load on an amplifier gives the most output at its lowest stable load which can be as low as .50 mono to 4 ohms mono but each amplifier is different and must be followed as the manufacture states or you will damage the amplifier.....box rise referes to the ohm load a sub sees above the amps ideal load and that varies depending on the frequency being played

how do you do that do you just get a track w/ the best frequency for your car and play that for those few seconds and how do you determine the best frquency for your by just using your ears or getting it measured at different frequencies.

a) yes

how do you determine the best frquency for your by just using your ears or getting it measured at different frequencies

A) if you already have a box built and you want to determine the best hit frequency then you would ideally need to meter it because 1 db is hard to pick out by ear let alone tenths of a db

A) to determine your cars true best hit (resonant frequency) you need to test with your sub in a box preferably sealed and measure the frequencies one by one and mark them down on paper then take the box outside the car in a wide open space and measure again and mark them down on paper you want to do this with your amps bass boost flat and radio bass flat and run at low volume but high enough to read on the meter so your voltage is steady and test the box outside the car at the exact volume and bass settings once you have this data you no what your car boosts the frequencies like (cabin boost) then you would run the speaker thiel small specs on a box building program and find the most ideal box based on the program predictions you could then build a spl port (for burping only) that would be interchangable so you could use the box for daily use but gain a few db over the stock tune for more spl points on the meter (that port usually specs out 3 to 5 hz below your cars resonant frequency)
