Bronze Member Username: Waterboy2289Martinez, Georgia USA Post Number: 17 Registered: Jan-06 | It sounds like the RE subs are really good so I've decided that for my next system I want RE. I mainly an SPL type of guy so I was thinking the SX's would be good. I just called RE and the prices on the XXX's are out of sight, so I know I'm not getting those. The MT's are for mainly for competition so those are out for me. I want to spend no more than $2000 for my entire system including all all electrical upgrades(200amp alt. from excessive amperage is 345 for my vehicle). My car is a 1999 4Runner and it's my "daily driver." According to my calculations I have 22 cuft in my cargo area for box space. I would like help picking out an SX system with amps that would be the loudest possible while still staying within my $2000 budget. I was thinking 2 18in SX's with two of RE's 12.1 amps?? Opinions please. |

Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana USA Post Number: 1873 Registered: Mar-04 | yes...you can get SX's in dvc 4ohm, its ~$20 extra though. matt, if you are planning to compete in SPL comps and use your box for daily driving...i would suggest using interchangable ports. that way you can tune the box for daily use (~32hz) then just unbolt your port and drop in another port that is tuned for SPL comps (tuned to peak at your vehicles resonance freq). if you build the box right and do some testing to find you resonance frequency, you shouldnt have much of a problem getting over 153dB. (w/ an SPL box...not a daily box) oh yea, the rules for DBdrag and Usaci state that you must be outside of the car when your SPL is over 140dB, but most of the time they will let that slide if you just use hearing protection. i do 148db w/ 1 SX15 and i have never been forced by the officials to operate my system from outside the truck. if you need some help designing a box, email me...i'll give ya a hand. marshall_white2004@yahoo.com AIM: southern1inla86 |
