After I searched around the forum I have narrowed my amp choices to the MB Quart RAA2400 and the Infinity Reference 1211A. The price difference is about $100. Can you guys tell me what you think about these choices and which one should I get. Thanks!

depends on what ur tryin to power. the Infinity Reference 1211A is more powerful than the mb quart but the mb has a better build. Also there are some more nice amps in ur price range

Well, the only amp I can think that puts out 1000W RMS at 4 ohms would be a JL 1000/1...But you're going to shell out some cash for that!

if u r trying 2 power a pair of type Rs then buy the MB quart raa1000 amp instead - which is exactly what i'm doing but u must have 4ohms dvc subs to use it

I thought the raa100 only puts out RMS Power (4 ohms): 250 watts x 1 chan. and the raa2400 puts out 800 at 4 ohms. yes, the subs are 4ohm dvc.

Hifonics BX1500
Viper 1200.1
Directed 1200d
PrecisionPower PCX-1500
Also a Viper D2500.1 u could wire it at 4 ohms and still have the flexibility to wire at 2 ohm when u upgrade

why are you wiring the subs at 4ohms?

i am wiring the subs at 4 ohms because the subs are 4ohm dvc, so my options were either wiring them at 1 or 4 ohms.

usally u will not get as much power by wiring at 4 ohms, and more power at 1 ohm

4ohm dvc will give u either 8ohms or 2ohms
if u parrallel the pair it will give u 1ohm load!
1ohm not 4ohm!

As long as the amp is designed for 1 ohm, which many mono's are - it will probably run much cooler than a normal 2 ch a/b amp bridged, and be less of a draw on your electrical system.

he could serial them, but why?
its hard as hell to find anything that puts out at 4ohms.
more power at 4ohms is going to yeild to a costly amp.

he can easily get a 1ohm amp. and present a 1 ohm load.

so most of u would just go ahead and wire the subs at 1 ohm? i am assuming that this will be ok and practical for normal daily use

here are your choices, those are dual 4 soooo, either run them down to a 2ohm load and un stero mode(2channel) or run a 1ohm load on a mono amp, or run it 4 ohm bridged on a 2 channel amp.... the best suggestion is to run it on a mono amp at 1ohm,.

is wiring the subs at 1ohm safe and practical for normal daily use? because i know many of the competition guys out there do this to get the most out of their amps.

its totaly SAFE!

it depends totaly on the amp, if it puts out max power at 8ohms, then people would wire the subs up to 8ohms.

As long as the amp is 1 ohm stable, you'll be perfectly fine running at that. Just make sure when you decide which amp you want, that you check the amp's ratings and make sure that it says xxxW @ 1 ohm stable or something to that effect.
All of nworB yecnuahC's recommendations work, plus whatever Kicker has in that price/power range.
