Power cable won't connect to battery

I just got done wiring my whole system, all the RCA's, remote wires and all that stuff but theres one thing that still hasnt gone down. Everytime I try and tighten down the connector, it always falls out or somehow pops out. I have a sidepost battery and it is a piece of crap for connecting anything.
The bolt isn't long enough to mount the connector and actually attach it to the battery. And if I put the connector on the other side it also pops out. I have tried basically every combo and nuttin has worked. I was thinking about using an alligator clip or maybe even buying new adapters for my battery. If anyone could help I would be thankful.....

it must be a gm, you need a gm adapter for side post with extended bolt.

Those terminals work great, btw. The ones marshall suggested. I'm using one with my optima. (two actually) along with a pair of these for my side posts.
