my friend just asked me to help him out with a system today. he is looking to spend 700 total.
that includes sub, amp, HU, and wiring. we're going to build the box ourselves.

he wants one fifteen(due to space issues). i was thinking maybe a 15" type R. what's a decent amp in that price range to push that. also, a decent head unit. nothing too good, hopefully around 100-150. any other suggestions on subs?? i don't want to have to hunt for deals either, something i can get basically anywhere.

Audiobahn A8000T, get a 4 ohm DVC Type-R, wire the coils in parallel, and you'll get 800W RMS to the sub. It will give you some head room (about 500W RMS of headroom).

Kenwood KDC-MP5032, check for that HU online. E-Bay or Froogle.com. It can be had for less than what Crutchfield wants (199.99).

Wire is wire. You can get a decent wiring kit (4 awg.) at Wal-Mart, Scosche.

Nope, I mean 500.

Check out the price of that amp on E-Bay or Froogle somewhere as well.

It can be had for $150 or less. Isaac tested it, and it puts out the 800W RMS it is rated at. You really can't go wrong with it, quite a durable amp.

I would suggest Hifonics...But they don't have a very good reputation around here.

the 15" type r is 750 watts rms, and if the amp is rated at 800, that would be 50 watts of headroom right????
