i've been thinking about putting a 350 or a 383 in my 2000 S10 Xtreme. trying to find a nice engine is pissing me off. i'm on a 1500-2000 dollar budget for the engine itself. my stock transmission should handle it, because chevy made them kinda interchangable.

Kevin: for that much, you'll probably have to build your own engine. Or go with a used one. Check around at local shops, most people usually have a SBC laying around somewhere. I have a 400 and a 350 4-bolt that I rebuilt with some "stuff" done to 'em. I'd part with the 350 (about 345HP) for $1800, but you'll have to come get it...

You can get a remanufactured 350 chevy pusshing 350hp for about 1000-1500 with a waranty you still have to buy a few parts but thats what my brother is doing for his 86 t bird

i don't know if i'm going to be doing this anymore. my friend is really stupid, and i guess his dad is too. they're selling their 87 vette for 300 DOLLARS! needs a new battery(hasn't been started in a year)and a paintjob. runs fine. has 88,000 miles on it.

i was planning on buyin it, fixing it up nice, driving it till winter, then selling it.

make an easy 5 grand off of that.

my dad has a 5.7L with advance timing, in a Suburban he gets 10-12 mpg!
