If my alternators gives 12.5 above idle is it bad or it's normal?

say at 1500 ~ 2000 rpm my alternator indicates 12.5 is it normal? or something is damaged?

should be at 13.8 at idle and 14.4 above 1000 - 1500 RPMs. does it do that always or just when you have your stereo and stuff going??

always, when i replaced my battery, that's what it was reading (12.5) at 1500rpm aprox. (i was pushing the accel. a little bit)

alternators are 12.5 volts or so at idle. should be 13.8-14.4 above idle.
if it's staying at 12, it's not charging your battery.
the forward bias voltage has to be greater than the battery's charged voltage in order to recharge the battery.

make sure you test at the battery terminals though.
if that 12 volts is inside the car it may be a circuit with a regulated voltage.
