TS-W306DVC = 1000w peak, 400w rms
TS-W305F = 800w peak, 300w rms

With any of those subwoofer I'm planning to use the XPLOD XM-502Z (and please DO NOT TELL ME TO STAY AWAY FROM SONY), I just want to know if will my subs work with this amp?

AMP is: 100W x 2 (max @ 4 Ohms)
· 125W x 2 (max @ 2 Ohms)
· 250W x 1 (max @ 4 Ohms)
· 50W RMS x 2 @ 4 Ohms
· 60W RMS x 2 @ 2 Ohms
· 120W RMS x 1 @ 4 Ohms

Since it will be only one 12" sub of those listed there and they both are at 4ohms, It will be 120w rms to feed 300w rms or 400w rms

Will that sound weak? normal? good?
Will I burn or damage anything?
------
Also Could my alternator be good with only that?
------

thanks

your alternator won't even notice 120w. You could run 4 or 5 of those amps w/o a problem, probably more.
With a good ported enclosure it may sound OK. You won't be breaking any SPL records.

nothing will be damaged.

Perhaps for you guys it's an entry level system, With that Amplifier / Subwoofer combo, Will it sound good? or a little bit overpowered?

depends on what your idea of "sounding good" is. Overpowered, depends... the amp is overrated, so is the sub. You get what you pay for...

A good enclosure is key - get that right and it should work well.
Be conservative with the gains. Contrary to most's beliefs Sony amps are pretty accurately rated and a 500w amp is plenty to cause problems for that sub. Use some common sense and it should serve you well for a long time.

OPTIDRIVEN, how should the gain be set? half? 2/4?
3/4? maximum?
(knowing the values and power of both amp and sub)

There's really no way to say - it's relative to your HU.

I've always set mine by ear and I've never damaged a speaker.

What I do is start with it at the lowest point (quietest), set your crossover to high pass around 80 hz, put in a cd, turn the gain up until the sound gets distorted and back it off a bit (1/8 turn or so). With your amp power/sub power ratio you might back it off a bit more.

As with anything - if you hear something that doesn't sound right, turn the volume down.

(sorry about the dbl post)

Forgot a step - set your hu volume to about 3/4 when you set the gain. That should be about right to get a strong signal from the HU to the amp w/o any distortion.

Your amp is rated for up to 6v input signal. Your pioneer should be around 2v at maximum listening volume - so I would expect your gain to be around 1/2, probably a little less.

2.2v from my headunit (according to booklet).
You told me that a good enclosure is the key, but does that mean that I could buy a pre-made enclosure for one 10" subwoofer? sealed and with

Vas (liters) 52.5
Fs (Hz) 26.6
Qts 0.41
Xmax (millimeters) 6.2

Sealed box volume: 0.93 cubic feet
Ported box volume: 0.78 cubic feet
Recommended Q-Logic Box Type: 2

by the way, what's "Q-LOGIC BOX"? a material?

Qlogic's just a brand. Sealed would be the simplest way to go. Just find something .75-1.0 cf preferably made of MDF and it should work well.
