Is it normal to hear no bass from your sub at a certain distance away or is it just me and my sh!tty sub in my house. At about 2 ft away from it when i look down i hear absolutely NO bass its freaky and when i go in a corner i get dizzy with chest pounding bass, wtf.Anybody ever experienced anything like this?
actually, i used to run PA for this band. and when i would stand in front of the subwoofer, i could feel a crapload of air moving from the port, but i couldn't hear the low end at all. but across the room it bounced all over the place.
if a sub is playing a given frequency and you are 1/4 wave length away from the sub...it will seem louder than if you were at a different possition. also, if you are in the corner...the room might "load" better at that point.
in a vehicle its pretty much non-directional because you usually dont have the distance needed for the wave to develope. in larger areas you have the distance.
no...as the wave developes it sounds louder (loudest at 1/4 wave lenth away)
try this...open all your cars doors and windows and turn your system on. walk back ~5ft...then 10ft, then 15ft and so on. at different distances it will sound louder...you will prolly find a distance that is quiter, but closer to the car than another distance.
@ 1 time i had in my 10 x 10 bedroom , a 4x4x2ft DJ Scoop shaped box with a pair of 12" subs !!! - needless to say all the wax came out my ears -lol .....
this guy i knew used it nearby me 4 the carnival & both his old beat up subs got busted so he just left the empty box by me . So i had 2 12s in my home stereo so i stuck in just 2 hear & DAMN !!!
guy left that box by me a couple wks & when i asked when he's coming 4 it , he said keep it ! . So i messed around with it & modded the scoop part & dropped back my 2 12s & omg DAMN ! - sounded even better than when he had it . After a few wks he dropped by & when he heard it , he actually wanted 2 pay me 4 it !!! - i'm like , no way dude ! after a yr or so i got tired of it & sold it 2 some1 else .......
