Impedance question

This is just me wondering in my ignorance: if a speaker is getting to a too low impedance, what pros and cons would there be in inserting a say, 2-ohm/150W resistor? The goal is stop the impedance from going below 2 ohm...
TIA

the impedance of the speaker is a fixed calue.
just match the amplifier and speaker(s) when you buy them.
don't bother with the resistors.

Yes, but if I put the resistor in series, the amp would always see at least 2 ohm, yes? On the other hand I'm afraid of what it can do to overall sound...
TIA

impedance isn't a fixed value. it's nominal, and a complex value.
remember at or near driver Fs the speaker can drop to as low as .33 ohms
at higher frequencies, it can jump up to as high as 100 ohms.
you have to remember damping factor, the inductance introduced by the driver itself, and so on.
if you really want to stablize the load and make it more or less a flat resistive load, build a zobel network for the driver(s)

the zobels are easy to build but remember to use non-polarized electrolydic capacitors of a sufficient rating.
most caps are polarized so these you'll need to get from a company like www.pac-audio.com
they carry the coils, and resistors, too.

Zobels are really handy for flattening out the resistive load on subs.
They do wonders paired up with aperiodic subwoofer enclosures which serve the same effect.

Uh, JoelsAnidiot's getting nasty... Stupid questions are those for which you already know the answer... Or maybe you wanna take my place, lol

I beg to differ joao. A stupid question is one that is not thought out with common sense before it is asked. Like all of the questions you have asked so far.

surely if someone said that aircrafts don't fly alone, i wouldn't call him an idiot... different subjects, different people, different knowledges.
cheers

But ok, since i'm not at you guys level, in the future i'll try to post really difficult (for me) questions, instead of easy (for you) ones!
TIA!

just ignore the trolls.
not worth the effort required to reply to them.
