JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | Ok well..... where to start I have a 89 lincoln towncar and i want some bangs in my trunk that kick these kids systems in the dirt... im not very knowledgable on car audio equipment so if you could use "lamen" terms i guess so i might be asking some questions you all find dumb.. but i want my subs to bang extremely hard, but not sound all shi*ty, like ive heard alot of peoples... sounds good on the outside but the inside isnt good, the voice and all is distorted, dunno why that is? not strong enough amp? or just shi*ty sub? but anyways so money is not a big issue but i dont wanna be spending out my a*s, and i dont wanna lowball the sh*t i was thinking of getting 2, JL 15W3v2 and erm im not sure even what type of amp i want.. sh*t i dont know if JLs are really worth it... i heard they are good but your paying a sh*tload for the name when you can find just as good for cheaper? but now, my car currently has 2 6x9's in it, they are pioneers and i got 2 6 1/2's in the their too that are pioneer.... i was told they were pretty good... i was also told maybe i should get a small amp for the 6x9's and the another one for the 6 1/2's... any ideas on that? so the subs i want? good idea? bad idea? know any better directions? im always down for saving money.... and then what kinda amp would you suggest with the subs... also since i think my car is pretty old ima need something for the battery? for all the power in the trunk ima have? and i also heard something about ways to keep your trunk from rattling, like some type of lining or something (im clueless) haha and i read somewhere about neon or led lights that "bounce" with the bass levels.... wow seems like i wrote alot... so, thnx in advance for all the help... |

JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | im having troubles even finding a place to buy these at..... it seems for 1 15" its gonna cost $570-$650 and for 1 12" its gonna cost $530-$620 and 1 18" its gonna cost $625-$710 but i had to convert those from euro prices.... |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | crap, didnt notice yall posted all that scratch that post above... thanks for all the help guys |
Silver Member Username: UcfsaxmanOviedo/orlando, Fl Post Number: 326 Registered: May-05 | Jl is high quality 2 15 w3v2's would sound very good as far as an amp for them you could do the JL 1000/1 if that is too expensive try jbl kicker or mtx you would need a mono amp that does at least 1000 watts. for the pioneers you could get a small amp somthing that puts out about 50x4 it would really helpful if you could look at your speakers and ifnd out their rms. you will definately dynamat or something similar like edead. an optima red top battery under the hood wouldn't hurt either. |
Bronze Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 98 Registered: Nov-05 | are you talking about re subs? |
Gold Member Username: Chaunb3400Huntsville, Alabama U.S. Post Number: 2097 Registered: Jul-05 | post a budget |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | ok umm starting with the box for the sub... ima prolly get the 18" i listen to rap, and well what do you all think a ported box or a bandpass box? from my understanding the ported box wont bang as hard as the bandpass but you get more levels of base... is that correct? so i guess itll just depends on my prefrence... i want it to bang hard, but i dont want it to have the base all sound mono like... i want to be able to distinguish the different levels of base if you listen to rap... go play "go dj" by lil wayne on your system... and you will know what i mean by levels... im guessing from how hard alone the sub will bang that the ported box wont dramatically be softer? but yet again then the bandpass wont dramatically have less levels of bass... i think ill get the ported box... but what do yall think? |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 103 Registered: Nov-05 | ya, ported would be best |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 3125 Registered: Jul-05 | i think 2 15s properly slot ported would suit your loud needs just fine ... |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | ermm a budget... well this isnt gonna be a one time buy, ima buy part by part.... but id say i dont wanna spend over 1500... alex, i was talking about the RE |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 107 Registered: Nov-05 | you can call re to get the subs at the prices i listed. as for myself i would like to get the 15" |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | so would yall say, the JL's would be better to go with or the RE... the website doesnt give exact specifications... |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 108 Registered: Nov-05 | the jl's would have more sound quality, but the re setup would blow away the jl |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | i read somewhere that the bigger the sub... like the less responsive it will be... so like would say the 1, 15" not bang as loud but be more responsive and have more levels of bass as the 18"? |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 109 Registered: Nov-05 | iv heard 1 10w7 against 2 15w3, and the w7 was louder |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 3127 Registered: Jul-05 | for that low budget then u have to go the RE way ...... |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 110 Registered: Nov-05 | rovin, do you have a price on re amps? |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | do you think the 15" will be better than the 18"... cause i dont understand why you would want the 15" if the 18" is only around $30 more |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 111 Registered: Nov-05 | the 18 can move more air, other than that there is not much of a difference. but the 18 can handle the lower notes better. is your trunk big? |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | yea my trunk is big... i know it fits 2 12"s im 99.9% sure it hold 2 15" |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 112 Registered: Nov-05 | are you planning on getting 2 15" |

JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | it seems the 2 15"s would cost around $800? |
Anonymous | If you have 1500 you could get 2 RE SX 15" - $480 Spend about $400-500 on amp(s) then still have 500 for an alt, wires, box and blow everybody out of the water |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | man, it takes a while for me to post or something.... but rovin what were you pricing? |

JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | looking at that website, the biggest amp they have is a 1200 watts X 1rms so thats 1200rms right? so would i need 2? theres gotta be bigger amps... thats like spending 700 on the amps? |
Silver Member Username: Subman15Lwarenceburg, Kentucky United states Post Number: 124 Registered: Nov-05 | an amp or amps to power 2 15" |
JankThatBowl Unregistered guest | posting is going fast... but i figure i like that guys idea of getting the the 2 RE SX 15" so it would be amp(s) for that.... do yall think that would be better to go with his idea... cause i want good sq too, just not all bang and no sq |
