rest looks very good but i would not choose Ken's wood & go Premier HU instead - higher preout voltage & more features ...

i would agree rovin, but those new excelons are bad a$.$ as far s build and sq is concerned. the old kenwood.. * but these are quite exceptional.
also, besides the p9, pioneer seems to really be lacking in the presentation dpt.
what do you think?

well ima pioneer Hu guy cause my older bro bought a good deck & GM120 amp brand new back in 1982 & up to now both still run good .

New kenwood might b good but i prefer the looks of the Premier more , also i see that their preouts do 5v where P does 6.5v ........

i also like pioneer. always has been between that and alpine. but both have let me down as of late. except for their highest ends in the f#1 and p9. as far as volts go, 4volts is very good, 5volts even better, 6.5 volts is pretty darn great. agreed

reg pioneer is all good & well but if u go to pioneers site & click the feature 2 do a side by side comparison of similar models say 8600 vs 860 u will see 4v vs 6.5v .....

u would only powering each sub by half, and if u got the type r's u would be powering them fully. With that amp the r's would sound alot better

I'll vouch for the Kenwoods. Especially the Excelons, I own one :P. Great SQ IMO, and the build with the motorized faceplate is great like Mike said. You won't find things on the Kenwoods that you do on the Pioneers. For example, Pioneer offers the cheap presets of like "SUPER BASS" and such. Kenwood has LOTS of bells in whistles in the tuning dept. but you won't find the cheap thrill stuff like Pioneer and Sony and other brands throw in. (Personally, I don't like super bass hehehe)

what does that amp put out at 2 ohms, because since u have a dvc 4 ohm sub u can wire it to a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load.

400rms X 2 @ 2 ohms

are you talking about 2 ohms or 8 ohms per speaker or total depending on how i run them

if u where to wire each amp to each sub u could only make a 2ohm or 8ohm load. so each sub would only be getting 400 rms.

i wasn't surprised @ u being right but in my mind i thought it was @ 1 ohm - with talking/reading about so darn many amps/subs daily , nos get mixed up in me brain sometimes -lol

since u r spending good $ now - i'd get a good quality amp 2 boot too ...

i am not a big fan of eq or crossovers. if i were you i would setup the system first to see how it sounds. good amps and HUs have great built in features.

very true Thomas - it used 2 be all 4ohms svc subs : PERIOD ! ....never had 2 use words like SVC/DVC b4 too .

but the new fangled way offers more options

MONO amps now have built in freq filters so thats another reason not 2 bother with a EQ/XO - simpler the setup , the easier 2 tune it ......
