Sorry to post in this section, should go in the speaker section I know but there doesn't seem to be much activity there.
Can anyone tell me the difference between Rainbow SLX230 and SLX230 deluxe? Ok the crossover looks different but I'm not going to spend an extra £30 for different looking crossovers!
Does anyone know if these are any good? I've heard rainbow are meant to make good speakers.
I'm going to get a new component set for christmas, coz atm I've got:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=428&cadid=3c00c2c22 7137d772989b78ad9075e61
But I want a different set, so would anybody be able to tell me the best speakers to get from this page:
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/index.php?cPath=24_26_283&sort=5d&page=2&cadid=3 c00c2c227137d772989b78ad9075e61
from the Rainbow SLX230 and below, bearing in mind they are going to need to compete with a 1000wrms sub

Cheers alot guys

The deluxe has a better x-over. For serious audiofiles, that means alot.

I wouldnt spend more money on better components and then use an active x-over.

Active x-overs are excellent for convenience, not quality.

As far as comparison between the other "cheaper" components;

I have never heard them, but they have been recomended highly by other audiofiles.

Stick arround and maybe Zac Davis, Issac, Johnathan, or Glasswolf might give their reviews. I have seen them talk about Rainbow products before.

Those Infinity 5000's will be no match for a 1000 watt sub.

ok cheers. How much do perfects retail in usa for? I mean converting the currency I would have to pay the equivelent of about $500! Some guy in the speaker section said he could get Infinity 6.1's for $170!! I mean my current speakers do keep up with the sub just and they are 50wrms, the rainbows are 80wrms....

"I wouldnt spend more money on better components and then use an active x-over.

mix, are you serious? there is an overwhelming majority of competitors that would say otherwise.
i think that it's the benefit of convenience that makes a quality active xo superior to a quality passive. in fact, i chucked my 8 passive xo from my two iridium sets at about 100.00 each (set).
a well tuned active will make just about any passive xo curl up and.. can't think of anything clever at the moment, but anyway. active>passive.
of course it's likely a moot point as he doesn't seem to be overly obsessed with production.
only mentioning this because a good conversation is rather rare on this forum as of late, not being argumentative;)
