im going to be building a box for a jl 10w1
just wondering which would be better the old school port (pvc pipping) or the rectanglar port
is performance the same ? (little power so whistling inst a factor, any others ?)
price ?
size ?

i only have the specs to a pvc pipping box

does anyone have a box building program they could look up the dimensions if there better thanx

Just use the PVC port, there's no real advantage to building the square port.

It really doesn't matter what shape the port is. Square ports are normally made with the same material the box is (mdf hopefully) so it baffles the sound waves unlike plasic so you may get less port noise. Just go with the easiest way. The only thing you need to worry about when you port a box is to tune it to the frequency on the spec sheet of the sub. It wouldn't be horrid if you didn't, just recommended for optimal sound quality. WinISD (Pro) is a good program to determin port length (given you give the diameter/size).
