How do you know when your sub is about to blow

i never had a sub die on me so i want to know. does it start to sound funny first for a little bit and then go or does it happen in an intant. i want to see how high i can make my volume go on my subs.

It happens in an instant, but if your clipping it u can hear it b4 it blows

somethimes you also smell this burnt smell a good indication that your sub is probably on its way to subwoofer heaven.

it's a lot of stress having a system in your car. whenever i have the window rolled down and i hear a funny noise coming from another car passing me on the freeway, i feel like it is coming from my car so i turn down my volume just to hear it again. so i know its not my car.
