That is not true, ALPINE, Pioneer Premier, Eclipse, Clarion, all will sound best for JL subs. Its a matter of how you set your EQ and crossovers that affect the sound of any sub. I highly doubt you can tell which is which with your eyes closed and ears enjoying the sound.
