i have 170W Rms components.. and i am trying to power them with the suitable amp. is it ok to power them with an 150W RMS amp at 2 ohms or will i lose some power as opposed to using a 4 ohm amp?

reason for goin for the 2 ohm amp is the cheaper price.

The speakers determine the ohm load on the amp, not the amp. if the speakers are 4ohm, that is the most the amp will run at.

so that means only a 4 ohm amp at 150W will do?

i appreciate the input

Waht ever your amp says max, cut it in half at 4ohm,(most amps) and that is even less due to voltage requirements(14.4 is usually where max powere is achieved) car systems do not run that high(factory). JL is one of the few that rates @1.5 to 4ohm, same wattage. also, depends on brand of components you have as to how much power to put to them, if your looking for a nice amp, look towards the Alpine, JL, or the Kicker. They are all pretty clean.
