my brand new kicker kx1200.1 amp started smoking after installing it. I dont know what to do. it still works but im scared to run it. would it matter that i have a smaller fuse then normal on it? i have an 80 amp fuse and it recommends 150. please help

Well, with a fuse a lot smaller, it could actually end up melting it, and then it'd be unprotected. If it's smoking, Check all your wires.. Or if it's under warranty - just send it back right now..

It was designed with a 150amp fuse for a reason, ie- it draws up to 150amps. You probably drew over 80amps and started melting the fuse. Put in the 150 and try it again, if it doesnt work then send it back.
