Polarity Question: TS-A6870R

Hello. I installed a new pair of Pioneer speakers into my 2003 Ford Ranger today. I obtained the wiring diagram for proper color coding with the factory ford wiring; however, the brand new pioneer speakers didnt have any instructions, and no (+) or (-) on the terminals. It was my understanding that the larger terminal on the speakers were positive, but the speaker wire that corresponded with the large terminal was solid whereas the striped wire went to the small terminal. I thought the stripe was positive. Should I trust the wire or the terminal size? Anybody? THANKS!

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it. You know, this morning I re-checked the box and there is a small diagram on the end flap of the box on the inside showing the terminals. Large is positive, so the striped wire was negative. I rewired it, and sounds good. Thanks again!

er yeah negative. I was reading too quickly there..

in any event, that's an old convention for terminals.. the larger one is always positive..
