Sound deadening in a sub box?

Is there any reason to line the walls of an enclosure with dynamat? I've heard some people say it helps eliminate "standing" waves... Anyone have any opinion on this topic?

What about polyfil? I don't need more volume than I have now... I'm at the recommended box size.. so does Polyfil have other benefits besides fooling the sub into thinking the box is bigger?

Don't waste dynamat in your sub box. It was meant for car's chassis.
You can instead use sprays for sound deadening. It doesn't make any sense for vented/ported boxes.
In a sealed box, it is useful for getting rid of the "boxy" sound.
You can also use pollyfill for the same purpose.

tests have been done. results were inaudible. don't build your enclosure as a perfect square/box and you won't have to concern yourself with standing waves.

You can slant the back 15 degrees.

Thread jacker! :-)

Anyways, thanks for the answers all... unfortunately it's too late to slant the back of this box, though I have plenty of MDF left over.. so maybe the next one. But I didn't build a cube, so hopefully it'll be fine.

so a perfect square box will not be as good as one thats slanted. Does this apply to ported boxes too?

And by perfect square do you mean the same hieght width and depth?
