Amp for my type r

Anonymous

i just got a 12 inch type r in a custom ported box in my 2002 camaro z28. i was wondering what the best amp would be.

I have these in mind.
Kicker 400.1
Kicker 600.1 (would this be too much)
Kenwood KAC-8152D 1000 watt (550 @ 2ohm)
also... would i be able to hook up both channels of a 2 channel amp to one sub?

def. take the kicker 600.1 over the 400.1, its always best for you amp to have more power than the rms rating on the sub(s) is, becuz u can turn the gain down on the 600.1 and it will run fine. With the 400.1 you would be asking more out of the amp. Just my opinion...
If the amp is bridgeable then yes, but i'm not sure about actually connecting 2 pos. and 2 neg. wires out of the amp to 1 sub.

Your gunna want the KX600.1

You can turn two channels into two, but you only use one of the neg and one of the pos from each channel. Its called bridging and the manual will tell you exactly the proper way to bridge the amp.

Yes, Kicker produces good SQ for the money. Its a level above the cheap brands but not in the same class as like JL/Eclipse/Zapco.

Diamond Audio is a reputable brand as well that would deliver good SQ.
