New member Username: Madmr2Post Number: 1 Registered: Apr-04 | I have an MR2 Turbo with a factory amp: http://www.mr2-tech.com/bgb/mechanical/volume2/body_electrical_system/Manual_138 8_0001.jpg and an aftermarket head unit (Panasonic CQ-HR1003 TouchScreen) I've connected the stock amp on my deck and I can hear a constant hissing (not related to engine) and the music is also really loud, even on low volume settings, maybe the head unit amp and the stock amps both working are causing this? I've read that on here: http://www.crutchfield.com/tech/kb340.html Common-Grounded speaker wires - If you are using the factory speaker wiring, make sure that it is not common grounded. Common ground means that two or more speakers use the same return path for the speaker signal. This was especially prevalent in mid-eighties and older Fords, late eighties and older Chryslers/Plymouths/Dodges, and many imports. Aftermarket stereos use floating grounds, meaning each speaker has its own individual positive and negative. If your vehicle does have common-grounded speakers, then you will need to re-wire those speakers so that they will work properly with the aftermarket head unit. My speakers are all connected on the same ground (is it normal with a stock amp?? since the car is not that old and the stock system is pretty good) http://mr2manual.teq.org/ewd17.html Should I run new speaker wires with seperate grounds and stop using the stock amp... cause it sounds really good aside from the hissing?? |
