Mono vs. 2 channel

I have a couple MTX MXA4002, bridged puts out 400 watts rms 4ohm, if I want the same watts, out of a mono I have to go to the MXA8001, 400 watts rms 4ohm, which cost almosts twice as much, the only difference I see is when you run in 2ohms, you can on the mono amp but not the 2 channel bridged. I've read you get better quality in 4ohms than in 2ohm.

Can anyone tell me the benefit to using the mono amp?

I am running 2 old MTX 8000 12" 4ohm subs w/ single voice coil, with 2 MXA4002 amplifiers I will have one for each sub, the subs are suppose to handle 500watts RMS, and 1000watts peak.
