Xmax/Xmech - Maximum peak linear excursion of driver, in meters. "Short for Maximum Linear Excursion. Speaker output becomes non-linear when the voice coil begins to leave the magnetic gap. Although suspensions can create non-linearity in output, the point at which the number of turns in the gap (see BL) begins to decrease is when distortion starts to increase. Eminence has historically been very conservative with this measurement and indicated only the voice coil overhang (Xmax: Voice coil height minus top plate thickness, divided by 2). Xmech is expressed by Eminence as the lowest of four potential failure condition measurements times 2: Spider crashing on top plate; Voice coil bottoming on back plate; Voice coil coming out of gap above core; Physical limitation of cone. Take the lowest of these measurements then multiply it by two. This gives a distance that describes the maximum mechanical movement of the cone."

it is the movement in inches( or millimeters) that the subwoofer cone moves in one direction.:-)

Xmax - Linear one way travel of the cone. In other words, the Real world travel of the cone, or how far the subs really gonna move before you have chances of damage.

Xmech - Max PHYSICAL excursion. You can't go any further than the Xmech. If you do, that meens the sub is broken.

Xmag
Excursion limit due to the magnetic limitations of the driver's motor. Xmag is defined as the displacement at which the BL product has fallen to 70% of its value at the cone's rest position.

Xmax
Linear (one-way) travel of the cone. Xmax is used to determine the maximum linear SPL capability of the driver, and can be defined in a number of ways. The DUMAX definition is objectively the best one, and it is defined as the shorter of the Xmag and Xsus values, in each direction of cone travel. This definition is more useful than the older definition of Xmax, which was solely dependent on the length of the voice-coil vs. the length of the gap.

Xmech
Maximum physical excursion capability of the driver. Exceeding Xmech normally results in damage to the driver.Excursion limit due to the driver's suspension.

Xsus
The point at which the compliance of the suspension has decreased to 25% of the value at the cone's rest position.
