i have all Blaupunkt speakers in my car. it is a Mustang so i have 6 speakers, 3 1/2's, 6 1/2's, and 6/8's. i also have a Pioneer DEHP6500 HU which puts out 50 watts per channel. the front channels are running the dash and door speakers and the rear channels are running the 6/8's. the 6/8's are three way and 240 watts total for the pair, so how could have i blown the 6/8's within a couple of months with only 50 watts total to each speaker. also, i have always had the fade more to the front than back. front speakers still sound pretty good, but not real sure on the wattage of those.

I have just the article for you, sir.

http://www.bcae1.com/2ltlpwr.htm

that article applies to the amplifier in a head unit as well as a stand alone amp.
in fact more so in some ways, since anything above 3/4 volume in most ehad units produces audible distortion levels.

it had to be enough power to move the woofers enough to rip the wires off from the terminals to the woofers. solderd them back on and it did it again.

that's not called power. that's called distortion and clipping.
