i got $500 and i want to know what a good setup i could get is. all i need is subs amp and HU. i have 2 15" boxes but i need 15" subs. i will either get one 15 with high watts or 2 15's with low watts. i want subs for spl. what is a good HU i could get for under $500? that is most important. the subs and amp can wait.

There ok, but not that great.
For HU's look at Pioneer Premeer, Alpine, Eclipse, JVC... there lower stuff doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and is still quality stuff.

For spl, you'd prob like the L7, although I don't like recomending them.
You can find them anywhere for like $125/300... just depends on if you want brand new, or used. Then look for the amp after you've picked the subs.

Taylor, I kind of beg to differ about Kenwood HU's not being good. They're like Pioneer. The lower end stuff, no, it isn't that great, but the high end, like Pioneer's Premier, it really nice.

O my friend bought 2 15" jbl's. They only need 300 watts a piece and his whole car and i mean whole car shakes back and forth. And there in a sealed box. However, the sq is quite poor but for 120 a driver there pretty good.

Yes, but I was talking about all the lower stuff.
I would rather have one of Alpines, or pioneer Premeer's lower line stuf than Kenwood's lower stuff... I do have a Kenwood HU, so don't think I'm just hating... just my opinion.

Low end Alpine. But if you're feeling rich, definantly go with an Eclipse HU.

IMHO: Kenwood and Pioneer are crap for really nice setups. Just my .02.

I personally run Alpine, but I'm not saying Pioneer is crap either.

Jake; go try out a Premier P9.
