5600W RMS, what size alteranator

I'll be walling off my 1998 civic ex coupe and installing a Kicker SoloX 18 powered by 4 1200.1 KX amps. I'll also have an 800.4 amp for my resolution 8's and components. I have 2 400 batcaps and 1 800 batcap, will be installing a spare battery (haven't purchased it yet, so don't know which one...either optima or stinger). I am using a Kenwood X969 HU.

So I was wondering about how big an alternator I would need to run this and my car all. Also, any advice/tips welcome for other aspects of this setup.

you'll need a battery isolator, and look at kinetic batteries.
everything you need to know is answered here:

Hmm, considering the biggest alt's I can find for my car are around 200amp, wonder if I did something wrong here? According to your wicked-charging page, I need an alternator rated at around 650amps.

(((4*1200W)/12V)*1.2+(800W/12V)*1.4) = 573 + 1/3
stock alt is 70A or so, that adds up to 643+1/3 Amps for my new alternator. If this is what would actually be needed, then could you point me in the right direction to acquire such a monster?

what you need is a bank of batteries to handle that much draw..
the only way you'll get that kind of power from the engine is to run multiple alternators, or use an external AC power source.

if this is for SPL events though, which is the only reason I could imagine for wanting a crumby solo X sub, and feeding it that much power.. you're better off using a bank of deep cycle batteries.
the alternator won't be used but to charge the batteries, since SPL events are usually metered with the engine off.

What I've done in the past is put a HO alternator with a relay (200amp is my favorite). I have a lightning audio one that's worked for years. Put a big bank of batteries, then you can run the system until the batteries drop down a bit, then charge 'em back up. Not very nice on your alternator though :P.

About how many batteries would I need to make up my 'bank' and what size alternator would be needed for this? Jake mentions a 200A alternator, would this be sufficient? I understand it only needs to recharge the bank because it won't be at full blast during daily driving. Also, do you have any fancy link describing how to wire these spare batteries in to the alternator so they get charged up?

it's in teh links above already.
you use an isolator, then wire the dedicated batteries in parallel in the back. the number of batteries will depend on their discharge rate and curve, and the amount of draw and duration placed on them.
basically how many you need depends on what batteries you choose and how long they need to last.
