new install subs cut off and won't come back on until i turn hu off and on

This is a new install when i turn up volume and boost the sub up it will play for about 20 sec and then cut out and won't come back on until i turn the hu off and back on, what do i check for first and how or direct me how to trouble shoot this problem. I am brand new to this but can learn quickly.
by the way the mids never shut off.

im not an expert at this, but it happened to me with a regular panasonic deck and 2 12"kenwoods powered by PG amp and xover, and a 4ch kenwood amp powering 4 mbcourt speakers... my problem was that my battery couldnt handle that much power getting sucked from it... and also my alternator wasnt keeping up too... so usualy its an amp problem... first thing i would check is battery and how good it is (usualy big auto retail stores will check it free). second thing i would check the alternator (free check too) third thing i would check if the amp is ok either by swapping current subs with different ones, or by swapping amp with a different one.
other than that... it could be your deck rca outputs are bad, which i cant seem to think why it would be...
