need more info.

-how much RMS power can each sub handle
-how many ohms per coil, and how many coils per sub?
-what is the make and model of the amp and the subs?

M3151 Diamond audio subs 8ohm DVC 250 watts. Rockford Fosgate X6 BD Class 850 watt amplifier amp 850x1 at two ohms, 425x1 at four ohms. I'm not for sure about the RMS.

are they 250 per coil, or 250 total watts?

if its 250 per coil, they're ok.
otherwise, too much power.

Is it really too much power if you know not to set it at the amps RMS? I'd buy the amp, just for upgrade purposes in the future...

I think they are 250 watts total. Here is the manual http://www.diamondaudio.com/products/pdfs/M3submanual2a5.pdf
